Everything Has Fallen Off: R.I.P. TikTok, a 2026 Playlist and Recommendations for a Bad Weather Weekend
Read to the end for a heated Zohran Mamdani moment.

MY FAVORITE SOCIAL MEDIA app is now ‘no more.’
Amidst the glut of digital platform takeovers from MAGA-ite billionaires, TikTok had remained the one oasis within the other enshittified watering holes that preserved its subversive spirit. Which made it a lot of fun.
Now it’s just another winner-take-all bauble for horrid tech creature, Oracle founder, Larry Ellison and his spawn David to dick around with. Not surprisingly, mainstay creatives are fleeing (as happened with Elmo Musk’s takeover of Twitter). That means that the carrion will become fertilizer for new doses of GOP misinformation, pro-Israel propaganda, and updates on the psychotic George Jetson-inspired fever dreams for Gaza’s ‘redevolpment.’
As is fitting, comedian Mike Mancusi spells out not only the ways of TikTok’s demise, but he also offers a succinct round-up of how late-stage capitalism has destroyed just about everything in America today. It also occurred to me as I was listening to him that he’s indirectly addressing what it feels like as Saturn and Neptune exit from the last degrees of Pisces, where, “…everything has fallen off.”
A New Year Means a New Playlist
Some of you emailed and asked me if I’d started a new playlist on Spotify for 2026, and the answer is, yes, of course—I’ve been doing playlists for close to 10 years on the streamer. Though, in the spirit of Mancusi’s argument, I’m not sure how much longer I’ll remain on the platform—it enshittified itself heavily last year. Anyway, here’s the link to Man Oh Man 2026. There are only about 80 tracks up now, but follow along. By the end of the year it will be filled with old and new favorites.
