Arson is the word of the year now come to think of it. So very apt and well chosen.

In step with your description of what we are forced to witness and the global wish of a state funeral or just a snapshot of the straight jacket being tightened on the walk out the golden doors.

Coiran looks just like Francis Bacon or maybe it's just me...

Thank you.

Yes, re arson and 2026 and vigilantism. Luigi's spirit is roaming the country freely now. Enraged.

And yes, Coiran does look like Bacon!

Thanks, Stephen, always love hearing from you.

i was the day receptionist at the Village Recorder when they were recording Aja. Walter Becker and I became good pals tho for some reason Fagen took a huge dislike to me ( which to this day I have no idea of why) and made my job there very uncomfortable. All that said, it was quite the time and Chaka Kahn was recording an album there as well along with this young prodigy ( who also pissed Fagen off to no end) from Minneapolis named Prince. Aja is a masterpiece.

I wouldn't take it personally, Shannon. When I read Fagan's book Eminent Hipsters (a wry, crazy-fun read--very Jewish sense of humor-laden), I came away thinking he was the ultimate curmudgeon (which is what makes reading the book so engaging).

I think you and I discussed our mutual careers (I was at the Record Plant) in the recording biz back during one of our consultations; we were in that scene at about the same time.

Met Chank when they were doing Ask Rufus at the Plant. Adored her, she had to know everyone's Sun sign before engaging. lol.

yes all true, we did have that commonality as i recal! but he did ask the studio manager to fire me and she refused. ( both of us lebanese, btw) and he had such a fit! anyway , and Chaka, so warm, so generous and yes asked me what my sign was too! lol!

I was so young then and doing such amazing things. Glad about all that and also sad about now and being old. Meow.

No doubt you're still doing wonderful things, Maria. Reread the Dawkins quote and chill (and celebrate). 😺

Nobody I knew loved that Aja track the way I did. I would sit in my room and play it over and over again. It was very emotional to listen to that track. I had a huge crush on McDonald. That voice just pierced my heart.

It's such a satisfying experience to develop obsessions with some form of artistic expression. As John Waters once said, "Without obsession, life is nothing."

Me too, McDonald is one of my favorite vocalists. His first solo album is still in high rotation in my house. The song Losing End slays me every time I hear it.
