Thanks for the post. Yes, it’s easy to get sucked into chaos (doom and rage), but what helps me get back to the here and now is being in Nature and also being with others. The dark forces want us alone and afraid. The medicine for this is community building (I am saying this as a hardcore INTJ introvert, believe it or not). I mentioned Nature too, because we need to re-member, re-link, and re-connect not only with other humans, but with all of creation (plants, animals, rocks, waters, etc.) Although there is some merit to the Internet (meeting others of like mind), it is no substitute for face to face interaction with others. Thanks again for the post. Blessed Be.
Same here, Craig, I've upped my daily walks from 30 min to almost an hour now. This time of year helps, for sure. You might like to join us over on Seth Werkheiser's Social Media Escape club. We meet up every Thursday. Check it out. https://socialmediaescapeclub.substack.com/
I grew up during the ‘60’s and the resistance against the Vietnam War, Civil Rights, etc…and I also see passivity in our population now and I do not understand it! My husband and I are both now 75, and have been attending protests, but we are also trying to focus our energies on the things in life that bring us joy…our vegetable garden, our kids, granddaughters, other family members and friends…trying to support several friends who are walking through hell with health issues. I try to pay stay informed, but also know that I cannot immerse myself in this chaos 24/7, so to comfort myself I read, listen to my favorite music and am doing needlework, which has been my peace and creative outlet since I was 16. Always look forward to your posts…thank you! Stay safe!
It's a hybrid situation, it seems, Christie. The screen time, the passivity but also resignation that's fueled by class issues like having no fucking money. A perfect storm. Music is a great example of bringing centering and joy into one's life. It's continually salvaging my sanity.
As someone with Jupiter in my first house, I'm blessed with the ability to bring that energy into my space while keeping an eye on the events as they unfold. What keeps me sane is focusing on my writing and petting my dog.
Thanks for this post that connects some dots. I wanted to join your zoom group, but that day did not work for me. Hopefully there will be more of those gatherings with the directness of being not in the same space, but gathering at a particular time. It's how my Tarot group that has been meeting for 45 years stays in touch now that we are unable to meet in person more than once a year. I so want to hear how all of this relates to the past cycles and what makes it different from them. A shred of hope, please. Cultivating my garden, as Voltaire instructed us at the end of Candide.
Hi Georgene. There will be more Moon Zooms, probably on or around the upcoming New Moon. And I do set them for a particular time, given logistics. That is astounding! 45 years with your Tarot group. Wow.
I just finished your video. Thanks for the education about the Fromm term and also a reminder about the end times theory. My siblings and half siblings all turned MAGAs and born agains. All I can say is good thing my father is long gone as he was Peace and Freedom party in the late 60s! We weren't raised that way and I did my share of peace marches. I guess my take from your video is that Jupiter isn't going to provide many blessings due to the square with Saturn. Even though my health continues to be affected by a late degree Sun and 6th house in Aquarius, I'm still following thru with my dual docent assignments. One is at a natural history museum and the other a garden of 5,000 acres! I fully realize there are people who have their noses in their phones/computers and hardly ever see anything but blue light. That's just very sad.
This is fallout from traditional astrology that has a reductive impact on our relationship to astrology, making designations very Romper Room (Saturn bad, Jupiter good, etc). As astrology students, we need to reconsider and release a lot of that. The jovial blessings -- to use that idea -- is, as I mentioned, a shot of clarity and faith (not belief) into Saturn's focus on the baseline, which is like the Tao.
Those 5,000 acres -- what a project. Good luck with that an your health's improvement.
Very difficult to detach from traditional astrology studies for many decades. Though my stellium in Capricorn always makes me process in a Saturnian way.
Pasadena/San Marino is was where the OG wealthy people settled in CA long before the existence of Beverly Hills. The Huntington is like Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge on steroids, but with gardens of all climates.
That necrophilic/biophilic duality you speak of really resonates. Are you familiar with the Red Heifer stuff and the breeders in the US trying to breed one as part of the fulfillment of the prophesy leading to the return of the messiah? And the story that they had sent several to Israel to be sacrificed but it has to be perfect and they were all flawed in some way? I think it was just this spring that the sacrifice was supposed to happen but they ended up not having a perfect red heifer (something like that anyway).
What I'm doing re the Jupiter-Saturn square. It's across my 3rd/6th houses. I recently moved to a new neighborhood in W. Seattle and have been working in my garden a lot trying to make it "mine", getting to know new neighbors and imagining all the ways my life can expand living here as opposed to my last home. My birthday was almost 2 weeks ago (Yes, right before DT), and I had a couple different celebrations with friends and one of my daughters. Then I got Covid and obviously had to come to a full stop. I was miserable for a few days but then I was able to putter in my garden between naps and things. The nicest thing however, was that I had numerous offers from friends to bring me things while I was sick and I felt totally loved and cared for. Meanwhile, my garden has been getting lots of attention and just this weekend I'm back walking in my neighborhood and along the water.
Those idiots in the WH are making it hard to be online and maintain my equanimity. Christian Nationalism is truly evil.
The madcap part of my nature loves the red heifer project. Goddess love the collision of literal mindedness and religion. Always, proof that Darwin's theories are also regressive and devolutionary.
Glad you've found your sweet spot with the Jup/Sat dance.
That’s funny. Must be some Catholic roots thing… I’d rather skip the Covid part of the Jup/Sat dance. It’s interesting though because it was very much part of our collective story at the conjunction.
I think astrology can help prepare one's self. For instance, before 2019, I heard all my astrology friends say something big is arriving so I kept looking at the fb news from other countries, until I saw covid in China and Italy, and then, I was that person who stocked up on tp, paper towels, Clorox wipes, and KN95 masks in Jan. 2020, before we shut down. And, we shared our stockpiles with others less able to safely get out and about. But, also, to remember, not everything that happens in the world has anything to do with us personally. So sure, do one's part to protest and protect who we can help, but then, enjoy life. We looked up all the Michelin starred restaurants in Chicago that had takeout, and since there was no traffic, we enjoyed some fine dining in spring 2020. So did that horrible time affect me horribly? No, we were fine.
This is why when I kept asking my astrologer when I can go to the Caribbean this year, he was like, WHAT??? He said there's global warming, fires, volcanos, planes crashing, and an imminent war--you should stay home. I thought, what? If I want to go on vacation and go swim in the Caribbean, I'm going, and sure, I'll take some caution. I had a friend who signed up for a Caribbean cruise March 2020, and he had a really good time. It was extended for free, because no city wanted to take in the cruise passengers, but he stayed healthy --now that's cheeky!! And, he's still alive, in his 70's and he's still traveling. He's in Ireland right now.
Kriyananda said to us, if a plane crashes, and it's not your karma to crash with it, you will walk away. Jupiter in house 6 in Pisces, opposing Pluto/Uranus, house 12.
So many great reminders here. I remember when I was having back surgery, Michael Lutin asked me, "Have you been studying your transits about this to pick the time?" And I said, "No, I need the surgery, asap. It is what it is." All went well.
I'm responding to your inquiry about what I'm doing now. I am a volunteer on an FM community radio station in Durango, Colorado. I present daily astrological information twice daily every day of the year to help listeners utilize celestial influences positively. My presentations are 2-3 minutes so I focus on the moon and it's placement, major lunar aspects and major planetary developments. I realize most lay people don't delve deeply into astrology so I keep information simple focusing on collective impacts and potential challenges that could arise. I also mention celebrities who share a particular aspect so listeners can maybe see similarities. I have done this for almost 5 years. I do run into people who hear me regularly and some who recognize my voice. This process keeps me a month or two ahead of unfolding energies. If you ever want to hear one of my reports you can go here: https://www.kdur.org/listen-online. I am presented at 7:45am and 4:45pm daily Mountain time, guess that is an hour earlier for you in Washington.
To keep myself centered and awake, rather than hypnotizing myself with too much screen time, I take long walks, read a lot, meditate, do Reiki Absent Healing each night, and seek to serve others to support them, as a gift. I am watching my own thoughts these days and catch myself in critical or negative patterns I've had since childhood and let them go. I, too, have been attending protests and keeping abreast of the news, but not burying myself in it.
You might be interested to know that this Solstice has been a potent time for me. I had a nightly visitor (a Wolf Spider) who woke me up at night on Midsummer Eve and the night prior. She didn't make noise but I was aware of her presence and saw her scurry away when I turned on the light. They are really big spiders. She looked like a young crab! But they are mainly harmless. I am processing that symbolism. I called her Ariadne.
Friends and family, my book club, and craft pursuits help, too.
Thank you for sharing you thoughtful post, Frederick. It helps to hear what others are thinking and experiencing. You point to larger contexts and that is truly helpful!
I remember reading Ram Dass' book BE HERE NOW back in the mid 70s. After years of spiritual study and political activism in the women's movement, I come back to basics...hearing you say it..the teaching?? Be right here right now.
Been thinking of the passively piece. There were several million people on the streets for the no kings march and other protests planned..reminded me of the anti Vietnam protests. But it was helpful for me to remember that only something like 17% of boomers were hippies/activists..the rest never left the sheep pen. I suspect the majority have always been passive until it hits directly (maybe when coffee goes way up it will trigger something?) tho social media seems to amplify unconsciousness.
Those of us following astrology knew we were in for a shitstorm..so the question was..how do we BE and what do we DO when poop flies. Thanks for your always penetrative and wise (and vulnerable) perspective. On the streets or tending the ill or petting your cat...presence.
When Songyal Rinpoche first came to the US folks asked him what he would say to Americans. His response..don't just do something, sit there.

Great reminder, Rachel. One's creative work takes one into the muse's realm, which is beyond time and space.
